U.S. National Guard Selects HotelPoint Kiosk for Self-Service Check-in
Arlington, Virginia Wednesday, July 21, 2004 SeePoint Technology was recently selected by the United States National Guard to provide self-service check-in kiosks at National Guard training facilities across the country. National Guard members will swipe their military identification cards at the kiosks to check in and out of temporary accommodations provided during their periodic readiness training. The kiosks will encode and issue a magnetized plastic key card, exactly like those commonly used in private sector hotels, to allow Guard members access to their rooms. The National Guard anticipates that the addition of the self-service kiosks will add a great deal of convenience and efficiency to a check in process where room turnover rates are high and Guard members are working on tight timelines.
The product selected by the National Guard, SeePoint’s HotelPoint kiosk, is a completely automated, self service lodging check in and checkout system. The HotelPoint provides users with hassle-free, high speed self check-in and checkout as well as access to other services. The HotelPoint interactive kiosk eliminates time consuming registration processes and makes check in or out almost instantaneous.
Using a magstripe or combination magstripe-barcode reader, which is seamlessly integrated into the HotelPoint system, a user simply swipes the card to initiate the registration process. The HotelPoint system then pulls a room-key card from a magazine inside the system, encodes it with the specific room information and vends it through a slot in the front of the system. The HotelPoint kiosk is compatible with most of the industry leading key encoding devices. The system also features an 8.5 inch or 4 inch scaling printer so the user may receive any kind of documentation. In addition to providing convenience to users, the modular design of the HotelPoint makes it easy to maintain and service the systems. Personnel may quickly and effortlessly replenish both room-key cards and paper.
