Department of Homeland Security & Las Vegas Metro Police Department Provide First Responder Training with SeePoint Kiosks
Las Vegas, Nevada Thursday, June 09, 2005 The Department of Homeland Security in conjunction with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) recently deployed fifteen “University of Metro Las Vegas” computer kiosks throughout the department’s command area. The kiosks, which were manufactured by SeePoint Technology, provide an access point to the department’s online training center.
The kiosks are exclusively dedicated to providing training to local police department personnel, who would be among the first responders to a terrorist incident. Kiosks are installed in the LVMPD’s seven Police Area Commands, each of which serves a specific area of the 8,000 square mile county. Additionally, kiosks are located in the department’s training centers.
The kiosks enable DHS and the LVMPD to provide consistent but decentralized training to police department personnel. The systems facilitate ongoing and updated training to large numbers of officers without impacting the department’s day to day responsibilities. Additionally, by dispersing the kiosks throughout the vast county, officers are able to devote more time to training and patrol by eliminating the need to travel to one of the department’s two training centers.
SeePoint’s CounterPoint countertop kiosk was selected for the “University of Metro Las Vegas” project. The CounterPoint is a fully integrated, compact and durable kiosk solution. The CounterPoint is designed to withstand the demanding conditions of a public installation and can be counted on for hassle-free and uninterrupted use. The kiosks have proven to be a quick-to-implement and cost effective solution for preparing first responders in the event of a national emergency.
