Banner Health Adds More SeePoint Kiosks After Success of Initial Deployment
Phoenix, AX – Tuesday, September 02, 2008 – Based on the success of its initial rollout of human resource kiosks, Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit health care systems in the country, has contracted with the kiosk manufacturer, SeePoint Technology, for additional kiosks for installation throughout its network of facilities.
Banner Health employs nearly 27,000 people, spread out over seven states. The vast majority of employees are engaged in providing health care services so their day-to-day job responsibilities do not put them in front of a desktop computer with Internet access. Using the Employee/Manager Self-Service (EMSS) kiosks which are located throughout Banner Health facilities, employees can view, update and maintain personal information including address changes, emergency contacts, tax withholding, direct deposit and pay history from the kiosks. Employees may also print a variety of information, such as direct deposit advice/pay stubs from the kiosk systems.
SeePoint incorporated a number of features into the kiosks to protect the privacy of employees accessing personal information from the systems. The kiosks include special integrated filtering to allow only the individual using the kiosk system to read the data on the screen. This privacy filter, which is HIPAA compliant as well, works by limiting the viewing angle of the LCD to a narrow field of view without compromising readability for the intended user.
A durable, high capacity thermal printer which prints on letter size paper is securely and seamlessly integrated into each kiosk system. To protect employee privacy, the printer has been programmed to retract and dispose of any printout which is not removed from the printer slot within a specified time.
One of the reasons Banner selected SeePoint is the flexibility of SeePoint’s design. Because of preexisting purchase and maintenance contracts between Banner and a multinational computer manufacturer, a requirement of the EMSS kiosk project was the ability to integrate Banner’s standard computer inside the freestanding kiosk system. SeePoint designed and manufactured a sliding bracket to house the computer inside the kiosk cabinet, which makes installing and removing the computer easy but does not compromise the kiosk’s slim profile.
