NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Department of Motor Vehicles Expands Automated Testing

Albuquerque, New Mexico – Sunday, March 01, 2009 – The New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles has installed more than 170 touch screen computer terminals designed and manufactured by SeePoint Technology in offices throughout the state. The systems administer driving tests and accept payments for vehicle registration and drivers’ license renewals.

From these self service terminals, applicants can access tests for the various classes of licenses as well as pay fees by credit card or check. Both a magnetic swipe and a check reader have been seamlessly and securely integrated with the terminals to facilitate the payment options. The terminals also include a bar code scanner to read the bar code on licenses and other documentation.

The State of New Mexico selected SeePoint as the hardware supplier for the DMV installations because the ingenious design of the company’s systems allowed for rapid production of terminals that met the State’s specifications. SeePoint was able to rapidly prototype a computer system with all the special devices, including magnetic stripe and check readers, necessary for the self service testing and payment terminals. Additionally, the quality, reliability and durability of the SeePoint terminals will provide long term, uninterrupted service to the millions of drivers in New Mexico who will access the systems. Moreover, the Intel based architecture of the system made it easy to develop the testing and payment software, which was designed by the State. By simply loading the software on the SeePoint systems, the State’s automated DMV systems were ready to go.

Automation provides a number of benefits to the DMV and residents of New Mexico. The State has more centralized control of testing, can easily update and randomize questions without the expense of printing new tests, can increase fraud prevention and offer tests in a variety of languages. The automated systems will also provide more efficient and better service to drivers and will allow the DMV to serve more customers with less staff.

SeePoint teamed with its Albuquerque based partner Abba Technologies, the highly regarded IT products integrator and reseller selected by the State of New Mexico to supply and support its DMV installations. “Abba is pleased to be part of this exciting project because of the improvements to customer service the SeePoint technology provides and it will greatly increase the efficiency of each DMV office” says Andrew Baca, President and CEO of Abba Technologies.
